Video transcript - “Do I Really Have Anything Worth Sharing?” (Spoiler: YES)So let me guess…
You’ve been toying with the idea of making videos, to improve your skills, get noticed online, maybe make courses to sell …but this little voice keeps piping up:
“But what would I even talk about?”
“It’s all been done before.”
“Who’s going to want to hear from me?”
If that sounds familiar, pull up a chair.
We need to have a chat.
That Voice? It’s Lying to You. It’s trying to keep you safe, but it’s lying to you.
Here’s the truth.
The teachers who are making waves online?
They’re not famous.
They’re not the best-qualified people in the world.
They’re just the ones who showed up.
They had the same doubts you do. I had the same doubts too.
The only difference is that the teachers you see online didn’t wait to be ready. They hit record anyway.
You Don’t Need to Be Original.
There’s this idea that unless you’ve got something totally groundbreaking to say, you shouldn’t bother.
But that’s nonsense.
You just Need to Be You.
Think your topic’s already been covered?
Great
That means people want it.
Now it’s your turn to explain it. In your way. It’s your voice, your perspective, your style of teaching… that’s what makes it land. Just like it does with your learners in class.
What You Know Is Valuable.
What feels obvious to you might be a breakthrough to someone else.
I’ve worked with teachers who feel apologetic, who play their expertise down, who say things like I ‘only’ teach IELTS,” or I ‘just’ help beginners with grammar basics. Don’t think that way. No one’s expecting you to know everything. Just to put something useful out there.
It’s amazing how, when you do this, you start to get messages like:
"That finally made sense."
"No one’s ever explained it that clearly before."
Most people don’t want a celebrity teacher. Those people have too many followers, so they don’t care so much. Most people want someone they can trust. Someone real. Someone who knows their stuff. Someone who knows them and wants the best for them.
And you’ve been doing that for years in the classroom or online. You just haven’t done it on camera yet.
And if you’re really struggling for ideas, AI is really helpful for brainstorming. Just put in a prompt describing the kind of teaching you do, what you enjoy teaching or feel you do well and ask it for 20 ideas for videos. You might not like all of the ideas but I guarantee some will resonate.
Okay…you say, maybe I
do have something to share, but I’ve no idea where to start…”
That’s what
VoiCE- Video Creation for Educators- is for.
It’s a self-access programme you can fit around your busy life at whatever pace suits you. It’ll help you figure out:
- What you should talk about
- How to say it clearly and confidently
- And how to make professional looking videos that feel like you… but more visible.
You bring the teaching skills.
I’ll help you shape them into content that connects. I’ll show you the technical aspects of filming and editing- it’s actually NOT that technical- using free apps and equipment you already have and I’ll support you to feel confident enough to make a start.
So yes, you do have something worth sharing. You’ve just been waiting for the right time and if it feels like that this is a bit of a sign, I’d love to help you start.
