There's nothing certain except change (and death and taxes!) but it doesn't have to be scary and it pays to be prepared. If this makes sense, see my story about the changes I've gone through in the past few years and check out how I can help you change YOUR life!

There’s nothing certain in life except change they say. If you’ve been in the same job for a while and think that you’ll always be there, you might be interested in my story.

From 2000-2013 I worked here at Solihull College teaching ESOL and training teachers on CELTA courses. It was close to home and convenient with a young family, I had lovely learners, supportive colleagues and I thought I’d be there until I retired.

Then I started to see other possibilities and from 2013- 2021 I worked on the MA TESOL at Warwick University. It was stimulating work, helping teachers from a wide range of global contexts to develop their potential and I had colleagues I admired and respected. I thought I’d be THERE until I retired.

Then Covid hit, my personal circumstances changed and my partner and I moved to Australia. I went freelance, stepped up my own business and now have more freedom and a better income than I’ve ever had. I guess this really might see me out until retirement.

The point I’m trying to make here is that even if you think you’re in a groove, even if you’re happy in that groove, things might not always be the same. Whether it’s your choice or external factors that you don’t choose, change can happen and having a better skill set is always a good idea.

I was able to move to Warwick because I’d invested in myself by doing an MA and later a PhD. I was able to go freelance with this business because I invested in myself to learn about making online courses. It’s been a game changer for me and I’m passionate about spreading those skills around.

If you think that you might like to put your skills online, to sell courses or promote yourself for private lessons, I can help you achieve this. By the end of my eight week Video Creation for Educators (VoiCE) programme you’ll be making professional looking videos that will get you noticed. I’ll teach you to use a powerful editing software, I’ll help you to feel comfortable and confident in front of a camera and I’ll show you what makes video engaging. Doing all this with a supportive group will also give you the motivation that will help you to actually MAKE video, not just think about it. Now how does that sound?

Change doesn’t have to be scary and investing in yourself is never a bad idea. If you want to know more, just hit the link below- no obligation but who knows what changes are possible for you.
