Give me TWO minutes, and I’ll improve
your teaching...
What if I told you one small change could
make your teaching instantly better? No extra prep, no fancy tricks... just a
shift in timing.
Here’s the test: When you’re teaching new
language- grammar or vocabulary- how long do you spend explaining it… and how
long do your learners spend practicing it. Actually using it in meaningful ways?
Imagine learning to surf. It’s not hard to
learn how to do it- the instructions are simple: Get in the water, paddle out,
turn around, stand up. I could spend extra time explaining the perfect pop-up
technique, but let’s be real, surfing isn’t learned by listening, you need to
get in the sea. And it’s going to take quite a bit of time before you can stand
up- EVEN THOUGH YOU KNOW HOW TO DO IT.
Language learning is the same.
So this is my challenge to you: next time you
teach, check the clock. Notice how much time you use presenting the language
and then notice again how much time they spend practising. Shift that balance
and you’ll see a radical change… trust me.
