Transcript

If you're doing an online CELTA course and you're looking for some great ideas to make your online teaching go with a bang, then this video is for you. I'm Jo Gakonga from ELT training.com, I've got 20 years of CELTA experience, but I also asked a whole bunch of other experienced CELTA tutors for their best ideas, and I distilled it into this set of 10 videos. This one's number two. If you find this useful, please give it a like and check out my site for lots of other useful material.

The thing that so many trainers said to me, probably the number one thing was this... Less is More.

It's a really good idea to limit the number of tools you use - there are so many that you could use - and really learn to use them well, use them competently and confidently. This will serve you much better, especially on an intensive CELTA course, than trying to learn a whole bunch of tools.

A comment I had from Claire McGrath was this... Pick and Stick. I thought this was very nice.

But what sorts of tools should you pick? Well, there are lots of ideas here.
  • ActivInspire might be really good.
  • Google Jamboard was mentioned and that's great for matching activities, that kind of thing online.
  • People mentioned Padlet and Will Clap.
  • And there are lots of games on Word Wall.

So check out one or two of these and see how you can use them. But remember, less is more.

I hope that was helpful. Look forward to seeing you in the next video.
