If you’ve been putting off making videos because you think you’re too introverted… I’ve got some good news for you.

Video might actually be the perfect medium for introverts.

There’s a persistent myth out there that to make video content, you need to be loud, super confident, or—let’s be honest—just a bit of a show-off.

But it’s simply not true. Some of the most compelling educators I know are thoughtful, softly spoken, and incredibly effective on camera.

Why? Because video gives you something live teaching doesn’t: the chance to get it right.

You can plan what you want to say. You can re-record a line ten times if you need to (I certainly have!). You can trim and tweak and edit until it feels like you. In short, you get to craft something you're proud of—on your own terms, and in your own time.

Introverts often imagine that video will feel exposing. But here’s the twist—it’s actually less exposing than teaching live or doing a real-time webinar. There’s no live audience to respond to. No unpredictable questions. No energy-sapping crowd.

Instead, it’s just you and the camera. And yes, that can feel weird at first, but it’s also wonderfully quiet. You get the space to think, to pause, to make a cup of tea and come back to it later if you need to.

Of course, the fear often sneaks in anyway: What if it’s not good enough?

And here’s the truth—your first videos probably won’t be perfect. Mine weren’t. (Still aren’t!) But perfection isn’t the point. People aren’t looking for a polished presenter—they’re looking for someone helpful, someone clear, someone real.

No one cares if your lighting is a bit off or if your cat wanders across the background. (Honestly, that might even help your views.) What people care about is whether what you’re saying is useful. That’s it.

If you’re thinking, “Alright, but I wouldn’t even know where to start…”—you’re not alone. That’s exactly why I created VoiCE.

It’s an eight-week programme for educators who want to make clear, engaging videos—without the tech headaches, without the overwhelm, and definitely without having to become a pretend YouTuber overnight.

VoiCE isn’t about flashy gimmicks. It’s designed for thoughtful teachers who want to share what they know in a way that feels natural, sustainable, and true to who they are. It’s about building confidence bit by bit, and creating something useful along the way.

So no, you don’t need to be an extrovert to start showing up on video.

You just need a bit of structure, a bit of support, and the willingness to begin—even if it feels a bit messy at first. Because honestly? That’s how everyone starts.

And if you’d like some help along the way, I’d love to support you inside VoiCE.

Your voice is already valuable. Let’s help it be visible, too.
