Does this scenario ring a bell? You plan a lesson that looks great on paper… but when you get into the class it just doesn’t seem to hit the spot That moment when you realise halfway through that you’re either teaching something too easy or way too hard? We’ve all been there.

Here’s the thing. Confidence in teaching doesn’t come from knowing everything, it comes from knowing what your learners need, what they struggle with and what actually helps them learn better.

How are you going to know this? One simple answer is to watch them! Keep a note somewhere of activities that go well- trust me, if you don’t write these down, you’ll forget- and also the things that didn’t go so well and why. Too hard? Too complicated? They didn’t respond to the topic very well?

Over time, these notes will help you know your learners better and teach with more confidence - because you’re not just hoping a lesson works, you know it will.
